SALVAGE BARN OPEN EVERY SATURDAY
MARCH – NOVEMBER 15th
Iowa City’s Salvage Barn is open from 9:00am until 1:00pm every Saturday, March through November 15th, 2008. The Salvage Barn recycles old house parts, including flooring, doors, hardware, siding, gutters, grates, fixtures and hard-to-find millwork. Shoppers can browse and rummage through the unique inventory from 9:00am until 1:00pm on Saturdays. The Salvage Barn is located at the Iowa City Landfill, two miles west of Iowa City off Melrose Avenue.
As a service to the community, Friends of Historic Preservation operates the Salvage Barn. The organization also salvages materials from old homes and buildings in an effort to encourage recycling. Salvage services are available by contacting salvagebarn@ic-fhp.org. Donations to the Salvage Barn are tax-deductible.
Other services offered through the Salvage Barn include, “search and find.” We will take requests for materials and try to locate the same. Our Salvage Barn staff will also consult on the care and maintenance of an older building.
